AzwajApp exists because most matrimonial apps borrow their interaction model — profiles, swipes, open inboxes — from dating apps, and then try to make it feel Islamic with a green color scheme. We started from the other direction: what would a marriage platform look like if it were designed around wali oversight, modesty, and genuine intention from the first screen, rather than retrofitted onto a dating app afterward?
That question shapes everything from how photos unlock to how notifications are worded — never assuming a marriage platform is a dating app with different marketing.
Marriage first
Every screen is designed for two people (and their families) evaluating a marriage — not for browsing, matching, or chatting for its own sake.
Wali-first, not wali-optional
Guardian oversight is a first-class part of the product, with real visibility and, where wanted, proxy control — not a checkbox bolted on afterward.
Modesty by design
Photos, profiles, and conversations are gated by default. Openness is something a match earns, not the starting state.
Privacy as a default
We built the notification system so a push alert can never leak a name or a message — that's an architectural decision, not a setting.
